Leigh - Chiddingstone - Penshurst loop

The Leigh Loop in the rain

The weather forecast was wet, wet, wet but holidays having disrupted the normal schedule and no walks for three weeks, Trevor and I (Ivan is in Sicily) decided we would be brave and head out in the rain.
Parking up at Leigh the path took us around the parkland of "Hall Place" a large Tudor style mansion before heading for Chiddingstone Causeway. It was about here when the rain decided it definitely was here to stay. Passing 2 pubs in the village (too early in the day to stop!) we headed onto Chiddingstone village where yet another pub was passed. Still too early.
Onwards to Penshurst where the rain decided to get really nasty so we did something that we have never done before. We sheltered in the doorway of "The Leicester Arms" pub but DIDN'T go in!
The heavy shower passed and so we set forth across the parkland of Penshurst Place and back to Leigh where a little soggy, we entered the Fleu de Lis Pub (picture below) for our well deserved drink and lunch.
